BROOKLYN NINE-NINE (Since 2013): Sitcom

Gist: Brooklyn Nine-Nine is a comedy sitcom, about a police precinct/station, where Captain Raymond Holt is assigned as the commanding officer of the detectives who work there. He encounters a diverse squad of cops who gradually become Raymond's second family, and they go through hilarious misadventures and solve crimes together in Brooklyn, New York at the 99th precinct.

Description: Brooklyn Nine-Nine is my all-time favorite show! This series mostly revolves around Jake Peralta and Raymond Holt, who are the protagonists of the show. Jake, a childish but brilliant detective often lands up in trouble and is saved by the strict and stern Raymond. These two tend to have a conflict of interest most of the time, but they grow closer soon after. They almost have a relationship of a father and son. This show and the show 'The Office' have the same writers, so if you have watched The Office you will notice that both shows are kind of similar in some parallels. Brooklyn Nine-Nine is streaming on Netflix and Comedy Central.

Cast: Brooklyn Nine-Nine stars: Andy Samberg, Andre Braugher, Melissa Fumero, Joe Lo Truglio, Stephanie Beatriz and many more.

Characters:

Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg)-

Jake is one of the main characters in the show. He is an amazing NYPD (New York Police Department) detective, but he has an immature and mischievous personality which is very likable. He loves to play pranks. Jake faces lots of problems in expressing his feeling and whenever there is an awkward silence he tries to fill it up by cracking a stupid joke. He is a laid-back individual and quite casual about things. Jake is obsessed with the cop movie 'Die Hard' and won't shut up about it. Jake and Raymond (Jake's captain) according to me, have a very genuine and funny relationship. At one point they will be as loving as father and son and at another, they will be the biggest rivals ever. Jake has a complicated relationship with his father because he had abandoned Jake when he was young. Whenever anyone says to Jake that he has "Dad issues" he would say this in return: "How can a person with no dad have Dad issues?" lmao.

Captain Raymond Holt (Andre Braugher)-

Raymond Holt is a gay, black detective, so you can imagine the discrimination that must have gone through before becoming a captain :\ Holt has accomplished a lot by ignoring all the prejudice and simply doing his job properly. He is often called a "robot" by Jake in a non-offensive way because Holt hardly has any expressions on his face so no one can interpret him. As I am describing him, Holt may seem like a not-so-fun person but during small feuds and competitions that take place in the precinct, Holt is fearless and SO amusing. He is always well respected and is held in the highest regard by everyone in the precinct. Holt slowly develops a close relationship with everyone in the squad.

Amy Santiago (Melissa Fumero)-

Amy has an uptight personality and is a little OCD, she needs everything to be done in a perfect manner. She is strong-willed, and a neat freak. One of her biggest aim (which is quite visible throughout the show) is to impress Holt. Amy is very ambitious, she wants Holt to agree in becoming her mentor to help her achieve her ultimate goal: Becoming the youngest captain in the NYPD. Amy is absolutely obsessed with anything that is even remotely related to organization. Amy and Jake made a bet in the first season, on who will have solved the most number of cases by the end of one year. Amy's competitiveness and stubbornness are really seen when this bet is being portrayed. Jake and Amy's rivalry slowly turns into a loving relationship.

Charles Boyle (Joe Lo Truglio)-

Charles is said to be the most hard-working detective in the squad although he is definitely not physically strong or gifted. Charles is Jake's best friend and his sidekick. He is a sweet person, he is never upset or jealous about the fact that he is always second to Jake, in fact, he is more than happy to be second. But Charles gets violently jealous if he finds out that Jake has another best friend, he fears that he might get replaced. Charles is a foodie, he is especially into disgusting foods (for example Octopus balls) *eww* Charles has a huge crush on his colleague Rosa Diaz with whom he stood no chance at all. He eventually moves on and develops a close friendship with Rosa.

Rosa Diaz (Stephanie Beatriz)-

Rosa is considered the office badass. She is highly secretive, hard to read, and clever. She is very proud of the fact that no one knows much about her and that everyone fears her. Jake knows exactly 3 facts about Rosa, that's all! But she still considers him as her closest friend. Rosa is definitely rebellious but she has shockingly attended business, ballet, church, pilots, and medical school! I've known any tough person to have these many qualifications lol.
